During the negotiating process, there may come a time when the offer you received simply is not enough to make you accept it, whether it is salary, benefits, location or any other reason. Candidates need to know clearly in their own minds what the minimum salary figure is for their acceptance of an offer and be prepared to thank the interviewer politely and head for the door if the offer tendered is not sufficient (keeping in mind the interviewer may raise the offer to get you to accept).
Good preparation and knowing your current status financially, professionally, and with other interviews/offers are key contributing factors in knowing when to exit the negotiating process, always being professional but firm in your convictions.
